Exhausting tour to the highest rideable spot in the Alps: Constant binary uphill grade, only at the toll gate it is more comfortable. Real altitude of dead-end road to Rettenbach- and Tiefenbach Glacier is actually unknown. Few references in literature confirm that this road has its peak above summit of Cime de la Bonette: Some say actual height is approx. 2,830m, others affirm at the parking site at Rettenbach Glacier an altitude of 2,820m. There are even few authors that indicate a higher altitude. At this specified tour the tunnel in direction to Tiefenbach Glacier was unfortunately closed due to a construction site. However, at the aforementioned parking site at Rettenbach Glacier the barometric altimeter indicated an altitude of 2,793m. (The same device indicated a few days later at Cime de la Bonette only a height of 2.751m, in any case less than at the end of Ötztal Glacier Road...)
