Qafa Bordolecit 1,355m

Qafa Bordolecit is located in the Albanian Alps in the northernmost tip of the country. The pass leads up to Lepushe and Montenegro. On the way you climb more than 1,000 metres in altitude and pass through the smallest villages, where the country's up-and-coming tourism is evident.

Start: Tamarë 242m
Altitude difference: 1,150m
Distance: 22km
September 2023

The profile is unproblematic with an average gradient of 5%.

Today we start in the tiny village of Tamarë. Here you can feel the country's tourist awakening. New accommodation and restaurants have sprung up along the only road.

Wow, it looks high alpine, but it's only a few hundred metres high.

The lonely pass road towards Montenegro was only tarmaced a few years ago. Best conditions.

A foreign world with dilapidated facilities in a huge dry riverbed

Idyllic, well-kept houses off the road

Hardly any people and only a few cars on the road. However, there are a few restaurants by the roadside. The main season seems to be over at the end of September.

Occasional encounters on the road

Looking back shortly before the finish

The pass itself is a little disappointing. At the back it goes down to Lepushe.

Unfortunately, this picture is also from the top of the pass. Stray dogs digging in the dirt. A picture that can be seen everywhere in the country and detracts from the beautiful landscape.
